R. Bret Beattie

Bret began his professional career in 1983 when he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and began practicing in boutique CPA firms in Los Angeles. Bret's practice at the time was devoted to tax planning and resolving tax disputes with the IRS on behalf of entertainment industry clients and professional athletes. Bret passed the Uniform CPA exam on his first attempt and later earned a Master's Degree from the Golden Gate University Graduate School of Taxation in 1987. Armed with this substantial background, Bret earned his first law degree in 1990 from the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, CA.

Over the next decade, Bret became a seasoned and successful trial attorney based in Los Angeles where he handled a wide variety of business, real estate, and catastrophic injury cases. His expertise in financial matters quickly established his reputation as a go-to attorney for complex cases. In 2001, Bret became a Texas attorney and accepted an opportunity to earn an advanced law degree, (LL.M) from the Law School at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. His academic work was devoted to the complexities of corporate finance, bankruptcy and securities litigation.

In 2002, Bret earned his Law Master's degree. As a result, Bret was recruited to participate in the massively complex fraud litigation surrounding the collapse of the Houston-based Enron Corporation on behalf of the Official Unsecured Creditor's Committee in the Enron bankruptcy. Bret's duties included developing the fraud and malpractice cases against accounting giant Arthur Andersen and Enron's two primary law firms. For almost 2 1/2 years Bret acted as the liaison with forensic accounting teams to prosecute claims of fraud, malpractice and breaches of fiduciary duty by Enron's outside professionals and certain officers and directors.

Since then, Bret's practice has included corporate litigation, bankruptcy, fraud, wrongful death cases, SEC investigation defense, fraud and commercial litigation in various forms. In late 2007, Bret relocated to beautiful Colorado, where his family has deep roots. Bret founded The Bret Beattie Law Firm, LLC, in 2008 and became a member of the Colorado Bar.
